What is the FDIC?
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that protects you against the loss of your insured deposits if an FDIC-insured bank fails. FDIC deposit insurance covers the depositors of a failed FDIC insured bank up to at least $250,000.
