Overdraft protection is an optional service that helps cover purchase transactions that exceed your available balance and would normally be declined because of insuffiencent funds. ATM withdrawals, bill payments made within the app and sending money to others are not covered by overdraft protection. Overdrafts are paid at our discretion, and we do not guarantee that we will authorize and pay any transaction.
Cash withdrawals, paying bills within the app and sending money to others are NOT covered.
You must have an activated, chip-enabled debit card and opt in to overdraft protection to be covered. A $15 fee may apply.

Walmart MoneyCard accountholders who receive eligible direct deposits may qualify for overdraft protection. You must have an activated, chip-enabled debit card and opt in to overdraft protection to receive coverage. Overdraft coverage eligibility also includes factors such as the frequency of deposits to your Account, your Account status, and the transaction history of any Accounts with us. Overdraft protection is only available on Demand Deposit Accounts. Refer to your Account Agreement to check feature availability.

Log in to the Walmart MoneyCard app or website and find “Overdraft protection” in the menu. Follow the directions to opt in and accept the terms and conditions of overdraft protection. Remember, you must meet the direct deposit eligibility requirements before you can opt in to overdraft protection.
There are two ways to opt out of overdraft protection coverage: the Walmart Moneycard app or WalmartMoneyCard.com
1) Walmart Moneycard app
- Log into your account
- Select Overdraft Protection on the home screen
- Tap the Opt in to Enable button
- After reviewing the Overdraft Protection Agreement, tap the Agree and Opt In button to opt in to overdraft protection.

2) WalmartMoneyCard.com
- Log into your account
- Go to the Overdraft Protection block on the home screen
- Select Opt in to Enable
- After reviewing the Overdraft Protection Agreement, click Agree and Opt In to opt in to overdraft protection.
Remember, you must meet the direct deposit eligibility requirements before you can opt in to overdraft protection. Coverage is based on your direct deposits, overdraft activity, and account status.

Overdraft coverage eligibility also includes factors such as the frequency of deposits to your account, your account status, and the transaction history of any accounts with us. If there are more than 10 overdraft transactions within a statement period (regardless if you have used your full coverage limit or a fee was charged or not) the feature will be temporarily paused for the remainder of your statement period. Your eligibility and coverage can change at our discretion.
